The housing zone bid for Blackhorse Lane has attracted a £800,000 grant from the Greater London Authority for improvements to the area’s station, Waltham Forest Council has announced.
The project aims to improve customer information, better link the station to the surrounding area and integrate it with the redeveloped streetscape. The station’s entrances will be made more visible.
Transport for London started work on the project on 31 May. Completion is due by the end of September.
Blackhorse Lane was named a housing zone in September 2015, meaning it is receiving funds and access to a number of measures to speed up housing delivery. The initiative is enabling the regeneration of the Blackhorse Lane and the northern Olympic areas, creating almost 2,500 homes.
