A developer and a housing association have formed a joint venture, acquiring the land for a 473-home scheme in Waltham Forest.

Hadley Property Group and L&Q will work in partnership on the South Grove scheme. The joint venture has acquired the site for the scheme from Waltham Forest Council.

Plans include 97 properties designated as affordable and 2,786sq m of public realm, with a linear park running east to west, and retail space, which the developers hope will be occupied by a cycle cafe. The scheme will feature 788 cycle parking spaces.

The site is currently a council-run car park and track stop with a small number of offices and light industrial units.

Mark Lebihan, chief operations officer at Hadley, said the acquisition of the site by the joint venture from the council was “another excellent example of the public and private sector coming together to deliver the housing that London so desperately needs”.

He added that the partnership presented the prospect of increasing the level of affordable housing at the site.

A spokesperson for Hadley said the joint venture was committed to using local labour and to investing in training and apprenticeships during the construction process.
